Catholic 11, Branson 3 - March 27, 2007
The difference:
MC pitcher Laura DeMartini didn't start the game the way she
is accustomed to, but after staking Branson to a 3-0 lead, she
was lights out on the mound. The Wildcats (7-2-1, 6-1) came
roaring back, scoring twice in the fourth, seven times in the
fifth, then added two more in the sixth to run away with the
win. DeMartini helped her own cause at the plate, going 3-for-4
with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Sarah Sherbure and Gabi
Kelly also produced run-scoring hits in the Wildcats' seven-run
fifth inning.
Notable:
Julia Herron hit a triple and a home run for the Bulls (3-5,
2-5), driving in two of their three runs. "She was very
impressive," Simon said. MC also got big games from Morgan
Ferrer (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Kristen Lippstreu (2-for-3, 3 runs
scored).

Branson
2, San Rafael 0 - March 13 2007
The difference:
Kaela Gullion pitched the complete game shutout for Branson
(1-2), striking out 11 and giving up just three hits. In the
fourth inning, Gullion struck out three straight batters with
runners on second and third and no outs for San Rafael (0-3).
From the
coach: "We lost to Novato in nine innings in the first
game and kind of had a meltdown against Justin-Siena, so it
was good to play a solid game and win," Branson coach Bruce
Hildreth said. "Many of our games will be low-scoring,
but we'll need to score a few to beat Redwood or Marin Catholic."
Notable:
Julia Herron had two hits with a double and an RBI for the Bulls,
and Shay Stevens had a double. Jamie Casassa had a double for
San Rafael.
